My favorite Batman is Michael Keaton, but even Jack Nicholson can’t compete with Heath Ledger’s uncomfortably mesmerizing performance as The Joker in this one. Great review!

Ledger didn’t play the Joker, he unveiled him. It’s not just the chaos, it’s the clarity underneath it that still scares us. The joke was never funny, it was just true enough to echo.

100% agree. I was just watching the scene where the Joker visits Harvey in the hospital. I think thinking about writing a piece about why nobody cares when everything goes according to “the plan.”

That line—“not all robes are draped over the same betrayals”—kept echoing in my head. Nolan’s Gotham showed us that darkness doesn’t always scream. Sometimes, it whispers until you can’t hear hope anymore.

I didn’t care for the movies—too dark, when I was not in a place to like dark. To me, Kevin Conroy will always be the voice of Batman.
